One of the meanings of the Sanskrit term Yoga is union. In this context, the union is between the individual personal self and higher states of consciousness. Through concentration and ethical living, the individual consciousness is gradually raised in vibration until it contacts, and then unites with, these higher states of consciousness. There are many types of Yoga:
Each of these Yogas focuses on a particular aspect of the personal self and uses it as an instrument for transcendence. For example, in Raja Yoga, the mind is concentrated on a seed thought. Gradually, through such concentration, the mind is raised towards higher states of consciousness, culminating in the liberated state of nirvakulpa samahdi, which is a continuous state of bliss consciousness.

Agni Yoga is not a physical discipline with physical exercises. Agni Yoga is the yoga (or union in consciousness) with Agni (or the Fire of Life). The Agni Yoga Teachings, once studied, present to us truths that are all inclusive. They refer to the past, the present and the future. They contain instruction on individual, global and spacial cause and effect relationships. One begins to see things in a new light--the Light of Truth in which all is in order and co-measured. One begins to understand the magnificence of Creation and the goal of the Creator. One sees universes within self and its relationship to other universes. The Teachings contain Truth, all can be verified in time by personal experience.
